HEAL OUR SOULS Dance Party, Apr 1

Politics got you down? Dance those blues away! Re-engerize for the days ahead! The Heal Our Souls Dance Party returns! Saturday, April 1, 8pm-12am. FREE! (donations happily accepted).

Heal our Souls is an intentional safe space of solidarity for people of color and those at the margins of society. It is spaces like Bindlestiff Studio that spark a fire of love and nurture a spirit of resistance.

Music and dance have brought generations of our communities together, from the drumbeats of our ancestors to the interwoven melodies of our friends, we mourn and celebrate life with our bodies, our drums and our heartbeats. Music and dance bind us together in ceremony and celebration; in prayer and ritual; in memory and spirit. As artists, we are revitalizing our expressions in service of social justice, and we are calling on others who are building movements and are struggling in movements to be IN movement with us. As the late revolutionary Grace Lee Boggs reminds us, now is the time to “grow our souls”. We invite you to this space to help us, heal our souls.

DJs will spin grooves that'll make your body move. Let music and dance comfort the soul.

THE GEEK SHOW opens Apr 20!

Tix Available Now!

"What is a geek?" It's more than you think. More than a pair of glasses, packed conventions, and bright costumes. Being a geek is about passion... community... loyalty... struggle... journeys... premieres... and finales. It’s never being ashamed of what you love in this world -- even when this world doesn’t love you back.

"The Geek Show" is a dynamic theater experience featuring sketch comedy, scripted drama, and film to celebrate and satirize the phenomenon of "geek culture." It's designed to unite fangirls and fanboys from all geekdoms, alike, and shed light on some of the community's deeper issues and problems from outside and within.

When:

April 20-29th, Thurs-Sat, 8PM @ Bindlestiff Studio.

Tix:

$10 - Students/Seniors; $15 - General; $25 - Support-the-Artist

AROUND THE BARANGAY

Arts Advocacy Day, Tuesday, March 21.

Please join us as we stand with other arts organizations to celebrate National Arts Advocacy Day, Tuesday, March 21st, 12pm-1pm, @ Civic Center in front of SF City Hall. Show your support for the arts! Save the National Endowment for the Arts and other cultural institutions! Trump wants to eliminate funding for scores of vital programs in his proposed budget, despite the fact that they barely impact the national deficit. Let your elected representatives know where you stand!

Here are ways to help:

Call your Congressional Representative and our two Senators. (Direct lines to the DC offices of our Bay Area Congressional delegation are listed below) and contact The White House comment line at 202-456-1111.

Say you are a constituent and you are calling in solidarity with National Arts Advocacy Day and you urge the government to support sustained funding for the NEA and the other cultural agencies.

Sign this letter in support of the NEA. Add your name to the chorus!
