Celebrate #GivingTuesday!

Today is #GivingTuesday! Participate in this movement of global giving by donating to your favorite charity.

We hope you consider Bindlestiff among your year-end charitable gifts. Please visit our website to make your tax-deductible donation.

Your generous contribution will help us fund our programming for 2018, which includes: our Restorative Theater Arts for Seniors program; the new show from the all-POC women sketch troupe, Granny Cart Gangstas; the return of The Geek Show; the return of Queer AF; Stories High XVIII; Tagalog 2018; and our Fall Mainstage production.

As the primary performing arts venue of SOMA Pilipinas, Bindlestiff provides affordable, accessible arts programming/arts education to the community, in the process, promoting diversity and equity in San Francisco.

And if you can't give on Tuesday, hopefully Saturday works better for you...

Enjoy food, award-winning craft beers, live performances, and raffle prizes as we toast our 2017 achievements and preview our 2018 calendar. (All-ages welcome). ADMISSION IS FREE, reserve your tickets now.

Special thanks to the San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks for generously donating autographed sports memorabilia for the raffle.

We are wrapping up a full-blown calendar this year. We started off our Bindlestiff programming with The Love Edition, followed by the very first Geek Show, then our second Tagalog festival, then our longest running workshop to stage production; Stories High XVII, finally capping off with our mainstage production of the world premier of Welga. We also hosted some of APICC's United States of Asian America Festival programming, as well as co-presenting; Aklasan Festival, Granny Cart Gangstas' Pussy Generation and the last production - Mumu, by Susmaryosep.

It really took a community to make this year happen. We would like to celebrate the end of 2017 with all of our wonderful Bindlestiff community; artists, volunteers, audience, and supporters for a gathering with drinks and food. There will be entertainment, music, reflection of the year, and a look into what's to come in 2018.

PSSsst, just kidding, there are still some shows in December...

Bindlestiff Stand-up Comedy Showcase

Model Minorities: Irene Tu & Andrew Orolfo

From myths to legends. Catch two rising stars of stand-up comedy on Dec 8 @ 8pm

Comedian Irene Tu returns to Bindlestiff Studio, and she's bringing along fellow up-and-coming comic, Andrew Orolfo. With laid-back acerbic wit, they undercut myths of race, ethnicity, and gender and dissect the absurdities of life on their path to becoming freaking comedy legends!

In 2017, the San Francisco Chronicle singled Irene out as an artist on the brink of fame, on the heels of being named one of the Bay Area's 11 Best Stand Up Comedians (SFist) and one of 20 Women to Watch (KQED). She has performed at SF Sketchfest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Riot LA and her comedy was featured on Seeso and Viceland. Irene has opened for comedians such as Anthony Jeselnik, W. Kamau Bell, Gary Gulman, Hari Kondabolu, and Aparna Nancherla.

After relentlessly hitting stages for the past few years, Andrew has become a staple in the San Francisco comedy scene, performing at the local shows and comedy clubs. He has been featured in the SF Sketchfest and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Currently, he produces one of the best monthly comedy showcases in the Bay Area. A free comedy showcase inside a fresh and swanky barber shop.

Don't miss this one-night only event!

Late Night with Joe Cascasan Returns!

On Saturday, December 16, 8pm at Bindlstiff Studio, Salupongan International will host the third annual Late Night With Joe Cascasan (LNJC) -- a night of music, dance, photography, comedy and education.

Salupongan International is a grassroots organization that implements advocacy and education programs that expose the issues and struggles facing Lumad (indigenous) and Moro (Muslim) communities in Southern Mindanao region of the the Philippines. Using the late night talk show format,  Late Night With Joe Cascasan, is a venue where the arts and grassroots organizing can coalesce to entertain, inspire, educate and organize the community to take action on important issues impacting indigenous people.

The solidarity exchange participants will be sharing their recent experiences of integrating with Lumad and Moro communities in the Philippines, and what allies in the United States can do to support the Lumad and Moro struggles. Through education and awareness-building Salupongan International hopes to inspire people to take action to support indigenous issues worldwide, and forge acts of solidarity towards peace and justice.
