WHAT: Across the globe, the hxstory of colonization has resulted in the exploitation of indigenous cultures, the erasure of hxstory, and the denial of second class narratives. The effects of colonization continue to permeate our society, our politics, and our art --- but art is also our weapon in this war.

For centuries, our ancestors used music, song, and art to preserve the stories of our culture. Music, especially, has been a way for people of color to speak truth to power, to let our narratives take center stage.

On February 16, we're telling OUR truths, and re-indigenizing the musicscape! DJ Glo will be spinnin' slaps into the night, so come dance with us! Step up on stage for our open mic, share your music and your message. After KaTrina Liwanag closes our open mic with a magical set, we're keeping the party going with a powerful performance by our headliner - Boondock Squad.

QUEER as F*CK

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

DEADLINE: MARCH 11

[Message from the producer]

Bombs and band-aids: Stories of Queer resilience.

The next edition of QUEER as F*CK (QAF) is dedicated to presenting stories that explore the constructs of both the political and personal aspects of Queer resistance.  We strive to present works that question and celebrate what it means to be Queer during a time rife with bigotry emboldened by policies that cut down our community.  According to Augusto Boal, theater can be used as a tool of liberation.  This project demonstrates what happens when we -Queer artists of color- arm ourselves with the stage.

We seek short plays (20 pages or less), monologues, short films, and mini documentaries from Queer artists of color and allies.  We are proud to partner with Bindlestiff Studio and Queer Cultural Center and will be apart of the 2018 National Queer Arts Festival.

For consideration please email your work to:

queerasfckfest@gmail.com

Deadline to submit is Sunday March 11, 2018.
