The buzz about CHASING PAPELES has been overwhelming! All remaining shows are sold out except for Thursday, Nov 15th. Tickets are selling fast, so don't miss your last chance to see the show that explores the undocumented Filipina immigrant experience using spoken word, music, movement, shadow puppets, and more.

After smuggling herself into America in a Balikbayan box, Leah struggles to reconcile her dreams with reality, and her attempts to build a better life for herself and her family are met with oppression, threats of deportation, and unfair (not to mention unsavory) working conditions.

A TRIBUTE TO

DR. DAWN BOHULANO MABALON

Monday, Nov 12

As part of the 2018 National Asian & Pacific Islander American Historic Preservation Forum in San Francisco, please join us for a special evening event honoring the legacy and life of Dr. Dawn Bohulano Mabalon. Dawn was a founding steering committee member of the first APIAHiP Forum held in San Francisco in 2010. Dawn was a founding board member and active in planning the 2018 Forum prior to her sudden passing. The evening will pay tribute to Dawn's life and legacy with some of her favorite films and some of her favorite community organizations.

Join us as APIAHiP hosts a film screening of "Beats, Rhymes, and Resistance" (Director: Lakan De Leon; 1997), "Little Manila: Filipinos in California's Heartland (Producer/Director: Marissa Aroy; 2007), and Bohulano family home videos from CAAM's "Memories to Light" program at Bindlestiff Studio.

Co-sponsored by the Center for Asian American Media and Bindlestiff Studio.

Daluyan is an interactive workshop, facilitated by Sammay Dizon, rooted in storytelling through movement, writing, and performance. Through activating our bodies as receivers of ancestral memory, how can we serve our own healing journeys for transformation of self, lineage, and community? Together, we will instigate the smells, sights, sounds, and somatic sensations residing in our respective vessels and re-discover how our DNA and lived experiences assist us in remembering and recognizing our intergenerational truths - which further our envisioning for the world we dream for the future generations.

*This workshop is for womxn of color and two-spirit/non-binary community members; folks of Pilipinx descent are especially encouraged to attend.
