DALUYAN is a culminating performance offering that centers storytelling as an act of soul retrieval and ancestral medicine. Conceived and coalesced by Pilipinx interdisciplinary artist-healer Sammay Dizon, this portal of time, space, and performance ritual continuum invites us to reflect in the depths and sit quietly with our shadows. Through movement, spoken word, music, and video - this multimedia production offers these tumultuous times some care-full insight to the beauty and complexity that is the nexus of community arts process and the 'individual' healing journey. We invite you to bear witness, bring your roots, and hold what needs tenderness as we gather in community and sacred circle. May our moments of shared resonance bring to surface the Dreams already flowing in our bloodstreams.
GAPA Theatre present Finding Your Voice
Friday, May 10 @8PM
Saturday, May 11 @8PM
Sunday May 12 @2pm
Finding Your Voice is a collection of original works written and performed by members of the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Theatre group. The compilation of vignettes, personal narratives and short plays reflect the lived experiences of these men.
Gay and Queer API men all have a story. They share those stories to respond to the social, cultural, sexual and political discourse. Simply to be and feel heard. At the heart of sharing those stories, they attempt to connect more deeply with themselves. In turn, help them connect more deeply with others and their own community.
Rest In Peace Irene: A show by Irene Tu (festival's Featured Artist)
May 17 & 18 @8pm
$15 - General Admission
Rest In Peace Irene is a humorous look at one of life’s most serious topics: death. In this solo show, Irene explores what it means to grapple with your mortality while trying to live life to its fullest. Dark subject matter include: what to do in case of an apocalypse, preferred ways to die, how to grieve appropriately, and things to not say in front of your elderly grandparents. If you’re afraid of death, this show is for you. If you love death, see a therapist first, but this show is also for you.
