In collaboration with Bindlestiff Studio and Epiphany Productions, Intersection for the Arts invites you to participate in a five-week movement workshop as part of the 5Ws Project. Participants will use indoor and outdoor spaces to generate choreography, sound, image, and physical theater. Each workshop will start with grounding and energizing warm-ups, leading us into our imaginations and tune our systems for the adventure ahead. This includes moving through the neighborhood; observing the people, places, and sounds of the area; and recording observations on the 5Ws chalkboards. The result will be the cultivation of language, story and dance poetry through the muse of the chalkboard as both source of information and demonstration of knowledge through the act of working with the beauty and harshness, survival, fame and cultural history of the neighborhood.

The 5Ws Project engages the surrounding community in a dialogue, asking questions and sharing stories about the past, present, and future of the neighborhood. Through the 5Ws Project, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the 5Ws community chalkboards along Mary Street, an online map and blog where their work can be published, and will culminate a site-specific physical dance-theater performance.
