Based on Benjamin Pimentel's novel of the same name, Rody Vera's play tackles the musings of Filipino war veterans who live far from home as exiles in San Francisco. They spend their time in a cable car station located in Powell Street, with most of them just waiting for the benefits promised to them and that "long-distance call from heaven." As they wait, they reminisce about their days at war, the women they loved, and family members that they left behind in the Philippines. They all share a common desire: the chance for their body to be buried in their homeland.

Directed by Pablo Bautista, the English translation of the production that won the hearts of Manila theatregoers gets its world premiere at Bindlestiff Studio in July 2014. As part of the 2nd Filipino American International Book Festival, two scenes will be partially staged as a sneak preview this Saturday, 730PM, featuring Allan S. Manalo, Joji Isla, Rosita Rose Buenaflor Almario, Fe De Los Reyes, Lee Robin Salazar, Percival P Arcibal, and Ogie Gonzales.

Followed by a conversation with the novelist Benjamin Pimentel.
